The Hip Hop Movement was established four years ago and has since then organised many events in Mumbai city. After years of experience gained the team finally executed its dream project – an all hip hop mixtape. THHM unveiled its Street Mix Vol 1 tape at the recent launch event that took place at The Habitat. Album drops on December 9th, 2017.

Street Mix Vol 1 features some of the most talented hip hop artists from the Bombay scene. Emcees, beatboxers and producers have joined hands to create this unique project that sounds fresh to the core. Some of the artists featured on the mixtape include D’Evil, Bombay Lokal, Adro, EMF, Rapture, Sai, X-Centrik and Jay Kila.

The launch gig was an amazing event with hip hop raising the roof. The Habitat has grown popular as the IT venue for comedy and music events. Proper sound, lights and a kick ass line up awaited the audience. Beatboxers kicked off the event by warming the crowd up post which all the emcees performed their collaboration tracks from the mixtape along with solo releases. Immensely talented artist Tienas also had a guest performance. Ace from Mumbai’s Finest performed tracks from his latest album too.

EMF performs surreal Marathi rap

Street Mix Vol 1 has an apt name as all the artists have been mixed and matched into different pairs. Artists who have never worked with each other have been paired together in tracks, bringing out a unique sound in each joint. Producer Shinji has provided amazing beats for all the artists to spit on. The final posse cut gave the perfect ending to a great show.

X-Centrik spits fire with D’Evil

It’s refreshing to see the Mumbai underground scene turn up to support each other at shows. However, the number could certainly have been higher. Nonetheless it was a gig to lookout for. Stay tuned with Desi Hip Hop for more updates on this release.
