Raja Kumari Divine City Slums

Talking about her experience working on “City Slums” Raja Kumari stated, “DIVINE is extremely talented and I knew if I was collaborating with anyone it had to be him. City Slums is a story about the people of Mumbai. I am so inspired to be in the motherland and understand where I came from. It is such a blessing to collaborate with a REAL artist. The song and the lyrics are my take away of watching them, real people with real stories. I am the American Dream, phir bhi dil mein Hindustani.

As a matter of fact, the LA based artist has another great reason to rejoice. Raja Kumari has been nominated for MTV EMAs 2017 “Best Indian Act”. It’s certainly great news for her fans as she makes entry into the nomination list of this year’s MTV European Music Awards. The Grammy nominated artist was also the opening act for AR Rahman’s recent concert in Europe.

Raja Kumari stated her views on the budding hip hop scene, “The urban scene is growing and I believe now is the time to take risks and elevate real hip hop. We have an opportunity to create the culture and I take that very seriously. I’ve been inspired hearing young rappers use their regional language. I heard someone rap in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil. I think that’s the future.”
