Almost 6 years after his debut effort, Mumbai-based rapper Poetik Justis has returned with his sophomore album titled “Green Heart Astronaut”. The sci-fi themed project is inspired from astronomer Carl Sagan’s documentary “Cosmos” and it was written during the pandemic.
“Green Heart Astronaut is my ode to the universe. This is my second album – a pandemic project. There is a resounding feeling of needing to escape during these dark times, and I hope this album helps you momentarily slip inside your imaginations and let go of the world, just for a bit,” Poetik Justis writes.

The 7-track album starts with a self-reflective “Conversations With God” while Poetik explores curiosity fueled questions on “Sau Kadam Upar” & “Bathing Apes”. On “Roses” & “Breathe”, he experiments with mellow instrumentals and smooth vocals. At the end, “Green Heart Astronaut” serves as the perfect outro for the album with cinematic vibes and back-to-back bars. The instrumentals on the album features producers like Vedang, Shinji and Dorian X & the artwork is created by Shubhankar Rai Gupta.
Talking about the process behind this album Poetik told Mid-Day, “It was a largely solitary one, since it was completed entirely during the pandemic. I had set up a home studio once the lockdown started last year, and started playing around with samples that producers had sent me.” He also added, “Earlier, my collaborators and I would have sat down in a room and jammed on the material together. But here, it was a completely remote process. I haven’t met anyone personally to create the album.”
