The late rap legend Nipsey Hussle ’s family, friends and fans continue to keep his legacy alive. A special event has been planned for February 5 that will breathe new life into his 2010 album The Marathon.
Neighborhood Nip’s official Instagram account shared a clip announcing The Marathon Visual Album Experience on YouTube. It all goes down on February 5 at 5 p.m. PST/9 p.m. EST. The same clip was shared by animation studio Oki Doki with the caption, “Celebrating the life of an incredible human, the Marathon mixtape, and the first week of #BlackHistoryYear.”

Nipsey’s estate initially teased the project last December with another Instagram post on the 10th anniversary of The Marathon’s release. “Today marks 10 years since the release of #TheMarathon,” the caption read. “A project our team holds near and dear to our hearts for many reasons. It represents the story of Nipsey’s resilience and unwavering faith in his mission. And the authenticity and honesty in his message. It also was the first seed planted in the Marathon brand that gave fruit to many other branches that Nipsey architected, as only he could do.”
As the two-year anniversary of Nip’s death inches closer, fans can expect more from his team. According to All Money In rapper J Stone, who spoke to Bootleg Kev in December 2020, a posthumous follow-up to 2019’s Victory Lap is in the works.
