Hip Hop Bags Four Out Of Five Nominations For EMAs 2020 Best Indian Act

Nominations for Europe Music Awards 2020 are out and Indian Hip Hop is undoubtedly on the forefront. For the first time ever, four out of the five nominations for the category of Best Indian Act are all hip hop artists. It is definitely a sign that says hip hop is here to stay in South Asia.

This years nominated hip hop artists are DIVINE, Kaam Bhaari, Siri & Sez as well as Prabh Deep. DIVINE’s track ‘Chal Bombay’ from his debut album Kohinoor bagged the nomination. For Prabh Deep it was the fan favourite anthem ‘Chitta’, while for Kaam Bhaari it was his heartfelt single ‘Mohabbat’. Siri from Bangalore and producer Sez have both been nominated for their collaboration titled ‘My Jam’. Singer songwriter Armaan Malik is the fifth nominee for his song ‘Control’.

The Europe Music Awards 2020 will be aired LIVE in the country on 9th November 2020 on Vh1 India and Voot Select. Till then audiences are urged to vote for their favourite artist in order to make them win. Last year’s winner was also a hip hop artist none other than Emiway Bantai.

Since the past few years the EMAs have included indie musicians from different genres. In the last two years the rise of hip hop has been undeniable in India and that reflects on this year’s EMA nominations. Whoever wins out of the four, it would definitely be a win for hip hop in India. We’re excited about what the future holds for South Asian Hip Hop!
