Gully Gang Records just planted their ginormous flag by dropping ‘Gully Gang Cypher’ featuring a talented artist roster – Aavrutti, D’Evil, Shah Rule, Karan Kanchan.

For months there has been an intangible energy around DIVINE’s independent record label – Gully Gang Records. Desi Hip Hop fans around the world wondered and pondered about the artist roster that DIVINE’s team was cooking up. And today, all those rumors were put to rest with the official launch of Gully Gang Records with a cypher and a launch event at Raasta in Mumbai.

Watch the Gully Gang Cypher

The single which features fresh and up-and-coming hip-hop talent like the Kurla quartet Aavrutti, Mumbai hip-hop’s very own D’Evil, Shah Rule, and talented music producer Karan Kanchan, demonstrates the label’s endeavor to push emerging and exciting talent in Indian hip-hop.

Gully Gang Cypher features four artists and multiple languages – Punjabi, Hindi, Mumbai street slang and English – and is a punchy tale of ambition and determination.

JD, DIVINE, & Shah Rule

“I never imagined I would say this but I’m thrilled to put out our first project as a team in form of a cypher which is the rawest form of rap with lyrics being the soul,” – DIVINE

DIVINE went on to say, “I love every verse on that beat because it’s all different and everyone came with their own style. This is one of my favourite songs that has come from the scene. There’s Punjabi, there’s Hindi, Bambaiya Hindi, English, Hinglish…it’s a problem! I can’t wait to see how people react!” he adds.

Ranveer Singh, D’Evil

Both D’Evil & Shah Rule has been on a roll for all of 2019, dropping singles or collaborative projects. D’Evil’s Bombay flow and authentic, yet comedic, verses have trademarked him well. This is an emcee that is self aware of his capabilities on the mic and with the pen. He sticks to his strengths and does what he does best. A slow paced flow with comedic, satirical and sometimes hardcore bars when he spits. Thats a style thats refreshing and isnt going to fade anytime soon!

Shah Rule also adds his unique touch to the song – as a producer & a rapper. Shah linked up with 22-year old producer, Karan Kanchan, to produce the Gully Gang Cypher; and as a rapper, Shah came through with a tight flow & bars in English.

The single was officially launched as part of a new club-focused hip-hop property called The Scene.

Time to celebrate, #GullyGang!
