Dr. Dre was reportedly rushed by ambulance to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 4 after suffering a brain aneurysm.
TMZ reports sources connected to Dre and with direct knowledge to the situation say the 55-year-old Hip Hop legend “is stable and lucid,” but doctors still need to run a battery of tests to determine what led to the brain bleed. According to the Mayo Clinic, high blood pressure is the leading cause of a subarachnoid hemorrhage and heavy lifting or strain can cause the aneurysm to rupture.
Dre’s team issued a statement from him on Tuesday late night via. Instagram, saying, “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
