DesiHipHop's Hot Or Naah? (W/6)

Like every other week, we try to bring some of the hottest releases from the week for hip-hop listeners. These are hand-picked releases which are not arranged in any rankings and are equally important for the culture. Without any further ado, let’s see some of the dopest releases of this week from the underground scene.

1. Maarenge | Daranti Group feat. Bombay Lokal

Maarenge is a hardcore desi hip-hop song, performed in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi. This cross-border Indo-Pak assault features Polymath and Haivaan from Daranti Group, representing Lahore. While Bombay Lokal’s GRAVITY and Shaikhspeare step up to rep their city. The track is produced by RJV Ernesto.

Daranti Group stated, “Basically, we wanted to deliver a pure dose of hardcore hip hop. We were sick of hearing the typical rich kid rap from Pakistani guys, especially in Urdu and Punjabi. Other Pakistanis are bumping some fake gangster shit while living a feudal life, so we wanted to give a real taste of the streets. We also learned a lot from Bombay Lokal during the making of this track.”

Bombay Lokal stated, “We also wanted to take shots at the rappers who rap in Desi languages but fail to deliver something that can be appreciated by the hardcore rap listeners in the Asian sub-continent. Daranti Group had already released their anthem song which had the similar old school feel and we knew that there cannot be a better song for both of the crews to collab on, having an objective of providing exposure to the hardcore rap at the heart of it.”

Furthermore, the lyrical video of this track is made by RBBT. As a matter of fact, the response that they have been getting so far from the listeners on both sides is overwhelming and it speaks volume that the game is about to change.

Significant lyrics From The Track

“Hindi rapperon ke khoon English Quarter me,

Tu asli deshbhakt? Ja ghar pe ja ke “Border” dekh,

Sahi-galat sikha na mujhko, Neta wale bhashan chod,

Keyboard warrior! Samne aa madarch*d.”
