DesiHipHop's Hot Or Naah? (W/12)

Like every other week, we try to bring some of the hottest releases from the week for hip-hop listeners. These are hand-picked releases which are not arranged in any rankings and are equally important for the culture. Without any further ado, let’s see some of the dopest releases of this week from the underground scene.

1. KITAABE | NaAmak

The song depicts the real-life incidents that are happening in the rapper’s life. As a matter of fact, he made this track because he thinks that the problems he is facing are the problems that most of the people are facing too. NaAmak just wants to express his emotions so that everyone out there can relate to this track. He further adds that it is the comparison of his old and new personality. He also mentioned that the people who stopped him from doing hip-hop are the ones who are doing 9 to 5 jobs.

Significant lyrics from the track

“Tujhse han door bhagti dikhta naa future tujhme,

Hasaye joker bhi han Kuch naa par khaas tujhme,

Ghamand me ghume tu ab Kyu na tu aankh milaaye,

Jiske piche choda sabko deti fuck tujhe chod ke sabko.”

2. Drifting | Frappe Ash, Yungsta And Encore ABJ

Drifting was just a casual piece that Yungsta and Frappe Ash wrote on this beat. As a matter of fact, Encore happened to come over and he too liked the vibe and wanted to write some stuff so he hopped on it too. Also, on the track, there are a lot of messages that are portrayed from the perspectives of Yungsta, Frappe Ash and Encore ABJ, who talk about different problems and situations.

But the hook comprises all of these and gives the message that whatever thoughts, good or bad, runs through the mind of a person, in the end, it’s just whatever and things are gonna get better. All you gotta do is put your mind to it and not think much but take actions about it. Yungsta further added, “My verse makes it all the more evident that there are a lot of people who even if you don’t know, are dependent on you. Thus you have to not let the negatives ruin your vibe and just keep working so that you don’t disappoint them. Just drift through the bad phase of life and keep your mind to putting in work.”

Significant lyrics from the track

“Karna dissappoint na tu kabhi apney fans ko,

Bhar tu aasmaan mei rang jaise van gogh,

Life can be bitter at times but has a sweet taste,

So I just keep rapping at the beat of my heart till the beats fade.”

3. City Slums (Remix) | Cizzy

Cizzy did this because, just like many others from this country, he is also a huge Divine fan. As a matter of fact, he has been following him since the “Voice of the Streets” came out. When he heard “City Slums”, he was blown away and that chorus section was so dope, that he kept humming it all day. It was raining all day, and he was sitting on the terrace of this four-storey apartment that he lives in and he was watching the slum in front of his house like he did every day.

He further added, “Somehow it struck me, this city slum that I know, vibes in a different zone, so I got to my computer and layered down something in a completely different vibe from the original song. When I started singing the city slums hook in it, it made perfect sense, and then I talked about the everyday struggle in Kolkata 42 that I witness every day, in the verse. Divine said he liked the track. My city slum kids liked the track.”

Significant lyrics from the track

“Nilsada shohorer, golapi e rastay,

Sadakalo ashar alo, ei footpath tay,

Ei chumbok tae uttor dokkhin,

Meru hoy morubhumi, sundor rongin.”

4. Fake Adidas | Tienas

The track is about how Tienas wanted Original Adidas but he never had one. He stated, “I was rockin my Fake Adidas, I wanted them, I needed them, then I realised they are just shoes like any other shoes even if I got the OGs they won’t change the roads I walk on they’ll be the same even then.” Fake Adidas can be related to anything, iPhone, food, clothes, etc all the materialistic things. It’s also about how materialistic our generation has gotten. For better and for worse.

Significant Lyrics from the track

“We’re imprisoned by our Convenience,

That’s why they call it “Cell” Phones,

We live in Hell Homes, If you didn’t notice then you a Silly Fool,

You Buy things which Define who you are to Hide what’s Really You”
