It won’t be long until the Desi Hip Hop scene has its own award shows like BET Hip Hop Awards. As a matter of fact, BET stands for Black Entertainment Television. It was started with the vision to give predominance to black music and shows in an industry where racial injustice still prevails. Won’t it be great for Indian Hip Hop or South Asian countries to form a similar alliance for Hip Hop in South Asia?
Currently we have more artists than listeners and audience. The industry is run by the same people who would not want anyone else to rise to power. To change the phase of Hip Hop in South Asia we might very well need to form our own version of BET Hip Hop Awards and push our culture through our own terms. What do you think?
