Best Hip-Hop Shows & Podcasts To Watch During the Pandemic

, , ,

If there are two things we all enjoy, it’s hip-hop music and talking about hip-hop music. As the world gets used to the new life in Covid-19 pandemic, people are consuming more content than ever. Thankfully, there is a wide selection of hip-hop shows/podcasts available online to choose from. Whether you want to know more about your favorite hip-hop artists or just enjoy hip-hop discussions in general. We at DesiHipHop are here to provide you with a list of quality Hip Hop content, to keep you engaged amidst all this.

UNFLTRD PODCAST

Ever since the world shut down & quarantining began, Desi Hip Hop has been going LIVE on every social media platform available. One of the major show that came out of these live events was the #UNFLTRD Podcast, hosted by DJayRaf. Each episode is laced with entertainment, positive gems of “knowledge bombs”, and countless moments of camaraderie during difficult times. As the show started gaining steam, it saw representation from 8 nations and 45 artists including Master D, Black Zang, Cizzy, Shaikhspeare, Nasty Ninja, Mumzy Stranger, Lazarus, Taizu, Karan Kanchan, Aakash Ravikrishnan, Haji Springer, MC Heam, The Spindoctor, DJ Sharad, Spitfire, Slow Cheeta, Liquid Silva, among others.

The Joe Budden Podcast

The Joe Budden Podcast is exactly what it sounds like: a podcast produced by and starring New Jersey veteran rapper Joe Budden. Joined by his friends and co-hosts Rory and Mal, the bi-weekly show finds the trio discussing various topics usually related to hip-hop and/or their lives in general. Think of it as “hip-hop water cooler talk,” where the group hangs out and just talks with each other.

The Fifth Element

Teaming up with DesiHipHop, Dee MC also kicked off her weekly series ‘The Fifth Element’. Every Tuesday at 10pm IST on Instagram Live, the show focuses on the fifth and the most neglected element of hip-hop i.e. ‘Knowledge’. Every week a well-known guest emcee also joins her for a quick one-on-one chat segment. Few of the guests on the show include Full Power, SlowCheeta, Agsy, Bella, Black Zang, Slyck Twoshadez and more.

Verzuz TV

Mega-producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz spurred the award-winning “Verzuz” battles on Instagram Live back in March by bringing together the biggest names in music for an even bigger online spectacle during quarantine. Some of the standout shows include DMX vs. Snoop Dogg, 2Chainz vs. Rick Ross, Nelly vs. Ludacris, Lil Jon vs. T-Pain, Scott Storch vs. Mannie Fresh ,Boi-1da vs. Hit-Boy and more.

Freestyle Friday with DesiHipHop

From virtual live festival, live discussions with panelists to supporting upcoming indie rappers with a Live Freestyle session every Friday, DesiHipHop has been at it with the content. Freestyle Friday with DesiHipHop also set up an Artist Relief Fund to help out during these hard times. DHH is also giving away valuable resources like Distribution, Marketing & Advances to the hardest emcees of every Freestyle Session. MC Gravity from Bombay Lokal won the very first edition, which kicked off the weekly competition with fire bars. All the subsequent editions since then have featured unheard but very talented emcees. Only requirements are bars, good internet & lighting and you get 60 seconds to prove.
