Since time immemorial, hip hop artists have spread lavish opinions about their business ventures. They have also bragged about their amazing marketing abilities, some even stating that they “sell ice in the winter and sell fire in hell“. Alcohol was the fuel of choice for many rap entrepreneurs along the way. Here’s a list of some of these Hip-Hop moguls who put two and two together and endorsed their own line of liquor.
1. P Diddy | Ciroc Vodka
Sean “Diddy” Combs is a man who has time and again proven his intelligence in doing business. Be it running a record label, being an artist himself, launching his own clothing line, or endorsing liquor lines.
In 2007, Ciroc vodka was struggling, selling just over 40,000 cases a year. When Diddy stepped in as brand ambassador, he established Ciroc as the number 1 vodka brand in America. As of 2017, he is the wealthiest Hip-Hop artist in the world with a net worth of $550 million.
2. Jay-Z | Ace of Spades Champagne & D’usse
Whats better than one billionaire? Two. This year has been exceptionally great to Jay-Z’s ever growing success. With his streaming service “Tidal” joining hands with network provider “Sprint”, he has upped his net worth by 30%. But the major source of his $460 million net worth was his stake in “Ace of Spades” Champagne.
He also endorses D’usse, in J. Coles words “When Hov around, we switch up to that D’usse/ Gotta pay respect”. The race to a billion dollars is currently close between Jay and Diddy. Next year we might actually see one of them win. He’s not a business man, he’s a business, man! Godspeed!
3. 50 Cent | Effen Vodka
50 Cent has been endorsing Effen Vodka, a vodka brand from Netherlands, since 2014. Jay-Z also mentions this in his latest album in the song “Bam” (featuring Damian Marley). In July of this year, 50 Cent sold his stake in the brand for $60 Million. Hip Hop artists like 50 Cent know how to get a good deal out of every venture.
4. Rick Ross | Luc Belaire Rosé
They say good music ages like fine wine. Rick Ross deals in both, good music and fine wine. It is stated that once Rick Ross started endorsing Rosé, it jumped straight into the top 25 on the Wine Searchers most wanted list.
5. French Montana | Ciroc Vodka “French Vanilla”
The latest addition to the Ciroc brand was in this year. Diddy announced the latest flavor in the days following the release of French Montana’s latest album “Jungle Rules”.
