Fateh’s definitely making some ‘New Memories’ with his latest drop

, ,

In the past few years, we have seen the rise of Indian origin artists all around globe. It is the late 80’s and early 90’s generation folks who have been taking this charge. One impactful dude out of this generation is ‘Fateh’. Fateh Singh is a California native who currently lives in Toronto. Fateh was born in Bangkok, Thailand to Sikh parents and moved to Hayword, California at the age of six. It was here where he was introduced to Hip-Hop music and there was no looking back since. There was a time when Feteh was dying to meet Dr Zeus to give him cd’s of his mixtapes, little did he know that he will one day be working with him. He has featured in many of Zeus’s tracks and also joined the band “Zoo Babies” and was featured in the debut album of the band.

He has released plenty of mixtapes and albums which include ‘California State of Mind (2009)’, ‘One Verse Curse (2010)’, ‘Mr Wall Street (2011)’, ‘Bring it Home (2016)’ and ‘To whom it may concern (2018)’. All the mentioned bodies of work have been widely received but are unmatched compared to his latest drop ‘New Memories’.

24HRS LATER. WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG SO FAR?

‘New Memories’ is the best I have heard from Fateh yet and has tremendous replay value. The theme of the album seems to be that he is introspecting and celebrating the journey he has had so far but is definitely looking forward to the future and is cemented on making some new recollections. You will be gripped from the intro itself which has the beat switching every few bars.  The album is cohesively diverse, it has a few new school trap bangers like ‘Roku’ , ‘Confessions’ and ‘Sardaari’ in one hand and in the other we have dancehall numbers like ‘Need a Girl’ and ‘Moka’ which features Ezu and Wiggi respectively.  The interlude ‘The Brampton Guy’ is an interesting monologue which the narrates how Fateh has evolved as an artist. My personal favorite is ‘Menu ki Ah’ in which Fateh is straight barring in auto-tune and is simply stating that he is never bothered by third party criticism and will continue to do what he does best, which is make music. The album is loaded with features and has Amar Sandhu, Themxxnlight, Slim Swagga just to name a few. He effortlessly transitions between Punjabi and English from one track to another.

It would be awesome to see a few visuals for the album as well. Fateh is on the forefront of the emerging North American Desi Hip-Hop scene and ‘New Memories’ is a testimony to that. Honestly, I think this is the best I have heard from Fateh so far and can only look forward to what he has next in store.
