Delhi based emcee Ritansh Azad is known for being a rapper who speaks for cause. He has previously touched social and political issues in his songs and his latest acapella is no different. Just in two minutes Ritansh has painted a real picture of some of the things that happen in India. As Republic day nears, this should be blasted on speakers to make people at least a little woke.
The satirical piece touches topics such as corruption, cons of capitalism, religious violence, politics and more. Hip hop’s very important element is the element of knowledge. And it is only through the songs that emcees created, this knowledge was spread across. With the new wave of hip-hop in South Asia emcees should not shy away from being vocal about the current whereabouts of our nations.
Ritansh is a pioneer in that matter among emcees such as Shaikhspeare, A-List and EMF to name a few. We got in touch with Ritansh to know more about his latest drop. According to him the song is about the condition of India in todays times. Especially the horrible conditions in which the workers and farmers live where they do not get even basic facilities.
“It also talks about the dictatorial regime and how it manipulates people. The song also touches upon gender discrimination and the problem of pollution in Delhi and takes a dig on corporate media,” adds Ritansh. 2018 has begun with emcees and other hip hop artists being involved more than ever. We look forward to hearing more of Ritansh’s music.
