50 Cent’s Instagram exploded with reactions to a photo of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The multi-platinum rapper turned actor/producer/director received the honor in Hollywood on Jan. 30 and quickly shared the moment with his 25.2 million Instagram followers.
“South Side on the map,” the Queens native wrote in the caption. “wait till they see how I run with this. Hahaha they never seen nothing like me before.”
Several of 50’s peers paid homage to the Power co-creator in the comment section, including Tech N9ne, Wiz Khalifa, Public Enemy’s DJ Lord, Lord Finesse, DJ Envy, Denaun, DJ Pooh, Planet Asia, Uncle Murda, Kid Ink, DJ Chuck Chillout, DJ Self and T.I.
To celebrate the occasion, 50’s longtime friend Eminem made a rare public appearance to show his support, making a few jokes along the way. “I just want to say I’m here today because this is not only a business partner to me, it’s one of the best friends I’ve ever known in the world,” he said. “I would say that it’s much more fun to be his friend than it is to be his enemy ’cause this guy is fucking relentless and he won’t stop. And in the same way he’s relentless in his battles, he’s also relentless in his business.”
“He’s an artist, an entrepreneur, an actor, a director, a producer … he can juggle, he’s great at Scrabble — he pretty much does it all. And he’s also helped through a lot of hard times in my life and he’s always been there when I need him. So 50, congrats on your star, man. Hollywood made it official, but I knew from the beginning. Dre knew from the beginning”, Eminem said in his speech.
Dr. Dre, who was also in attendance, looked on with admiration for both MCs. While delivering his acceptance “speech” — 50 thanked Em, Dre and Jimmy Iovine for their support. The normally jovial Fiddy was nearly moved to tears as he spoke about his career.
